Department store Galeries Lafayette recruited designer Kevin Germanier on the window displays. He worked with the in-store archivists to source photos of the department store’s windows of Christmas past, and used one from 1959 as inspiration.
Germanier’s main theme was light, with various interpretations from the glint of a diamond, the warmth of candlelight or the glow of a phone. All the displays will be in line with his glamorous house codes for the Galeries Lafayette windows.
Department store Samaritaine Paris transformed its windows into a Winter Garden theme, from artists Thoiry Lumières Sauvages. The exterior of the main building was decorated with 160 illuminated lanterns. Peacocks, snails, butterflies, and oversized foliage grace the historic façade.

The Samaritaine department store also set up a photo studio has been established on the Rue de Rivoli side.
The department store is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Japanese jewelry brand Tasaki with an exhibit featuring the house’s pearls alongside the creations of several Japanese designers. Paris is the final stop after the exhibit toured Tokyo, Shanghai, Osaka, Taipei and Seoul.
